LIFE TEEN Mission Statement
St. John Neumann LIFE TEEN’s mission is to lead high school teens to Christ. This is accomplished through a comprehensive youth ministry program, centered on the Eucharist, and available to all teens in grades 9-12.
What is a LIFE TEEN Mass?
From September through May, St. John Neumann Church offers a 5 p.m. Sunday liturgy, which is open to people of all ages. A reserved seating section is available for high school teens and Core members (the adults who work with our youth), although teens are free to sit with their families instead. Many of the liturgical ministries are performed by teens. The homily is often geared towards teenagers and their life challenges. Excellent and vibrant contemporary Christian music is provided by our Life Teen Band.
What is a LIFE Night?
LIFE NIGHTS are held on most Sundays, immediately following the LIFE TEEN Mass until 8 p.m. LIFE NIGHTS are opportunities for teens in grades 9-12 to learn more about the Catholic faith or to hear the Catholic perspective on teen issues. Approximately once a month, the Life Night is a Social. Please see our schedule for details. Life Nights typically begin with food and social time and then go on to explore the evening’s topic in a creative and interactive way with ample opportunities for questions and discussion. We conclude with various forms of Catholic Prayer. The teens are affirmed, educated, and challenged to live the Gospel through the work of a trained Youth Minister and Core Team. The primary resources of the teachings are the Catholic Scriptures, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and Life Teen resources.
What is a LIFE TEEN RETREAT?
RETREAT weekends are currently offered twice a year, in November and in March from Friday through Sunday. LT Retreats are thematic and creative and full of energy, with opportunities for reflection, prayer, growth, and fun in the context of a caring community. The common threads on LT retreats are the sacraments, thematic teachings and sharings, prayer, good food, fun, and fellowship. Retreat gives teens a rare opportunity to step away from hectic, stressful schedules and experience the peace of Christ.
